After 39 years of hijinks and hilarity, Teatro is taking big steps towards evolving the way that we operate; setting forth with a heartfelt commitment to take immediate action toward greater inclusion, with a longer term goal of developing new voices in positions of leadership. In what are intended to be impermanent and transitional roles, Belinda and Andrew will be guiding the company, in collaboration with Stewart Lemoine and the Teatro ensemble, through a 2-year period of evolution, mentorship, and growth – the details of which we will be thrilled to share in the new year!
As we tiptoe through this pandemic with an effervescent eye to the future, Teatro is elated to be ushering in a new era for anti-racist and anti-oppression practices, while doubling down on the sparkling entertainment and the exquisite joie de vivre which our audiences know and love.

Homes on the Northwest Side have seen an increase in value ranging anywhere from $250k to $799k. New residential developments and homes bring young people and families looking for places to eat, drink and shop. There are four major players affecting the future of the Northwest Side right now:
- The development at Irving Park Rd. and Avondale is a transit-oriented development, which already houses a Potbelly Sandwich (opened December 2015) and will soon boast a Lou Malnati's Pizza and Bow Truss Coffee. The site will also have residential condos and apartments available that speak to the transit-oriented renter.
- As far as entertainment, Eris Brewery & Cider House at 4240 W. Irving Park Rd. will be finished in late 2016, according to their Facebook page. This will bring younger residents out to the area, as well as, attract other new businesses and retail.
- Milwaukee Avenue's Six Corners is a retail hub attracting customers from the western neighborhoods. It is constantly growing and retaining new tenants and will likely be occupied by a new fitness center, a Binny's and a restaurant.
- On Lawrence Ave., there are developments that would bring shopping, coffee and residential condos. The area between Albany Park and Ravenswood is in need of a facelift. The Mariano's by Western is anchoring the change in scenery, which has already attracted customers from Lincoln Square, Ravenswood and Albany Park.
Exciting New Medical Developments
These larger developments are important for Northwest Side business owners and brokers to know about, because they are redefining neighborhoods. With the addition of these new businesses, rental rates in the area are likely to increase eventually. We hope this change will also bring more business owners to the area looking for space. Finally, we hope this leads small players – current business and property owners – to feel more confident in the area and follow larger trends.
